iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Demoed By Chronic Dev Team

The well-known iPhone hacker and Chronic Dev Team member, pod2g, today uploaded a video showing iOS 5 untethered jailbreak in action. Pod2g showed the new discovered jailbreak exploit on his own iPod touch. Video after the break.

Pod2g few weeks ago announced that he has found a bug in the software that can untether iOS 5. Few days after that, a very dangerous flaw in the security system for iOS was discovered by security researcher Charlie Miller which allow any app to be remotely download and execute malicious, system-level code on an iPhone.
Apple released iOS 5.0.1 after that to fix the security flaw discovered by Miller. Pod2g wisely advised iPhone users who rely on jailbreak to stay away from iOS 5.0.1 since the flaw makes iOS 5 jailbreak “dramatically easier.”
And here we go now, the hacker did it and could achieve the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak.
The video has been removed by the user and no one can watch it right now. We don’t know the real reason about the removal but it looks like it’s something related to copyright. The tweet on pod2g’s timeline is still there:

However, one of our favorite readers and users could get the video and upload it so we can watch it. We embedded the video below but there’s currently no audio.

There’s currently no ETA for the jailbreak. Stay tuned, we’ll be back once we get a release date or download links.
